With Wilma Coming, 211 Community Resource Hotline Prepared
for Disaster Relief Efforts
2-1-1
Community Resources / Elder Helpline information
and referral service, administered by Heart of Florida United
Way, is preparing for the likely effects of Hurricane Wilma.
Heart of Florida United Way and 2-1-1 are in the process of
assessing the available resources for recovery efforts along
with local health and human service agencies. 2-1-1 is also
preparing for the storm with additional staffing to support
our area and other 2-1-1 operations in Florida.
2-1-1
Community Resources / Elder Helpline is an information and
referral telephone service available 24/7, free of charge,
to every citizen in Orange, Osceola and Seminole Counties.
To access this multilingual service, dial 2-1-1 from any landline
or dial 407-839-HELP (4357) from a cell phone.
The
City of Orlando and Orange County have both acknowledged that
2-1-1 is the appropriate phone number to call with non-emergent
health and human service needs.
Please
include 2-1-1 when disseminating information to your audience
regarding disaster relief resources.
Heart
of Florida United Way is Central Florida’s most comprehensive
health and human services charity. Your local United Way partners
with local businesses, government, other charities, and individuals,
to not only increase awareness of local health and human service
issues, but also to inspire hope, provide options, and create
possibilities for the people in this community.
