LOCAL UNITED WAY LAUNCHES NATIONAL SEARCH FOR PRESIDENT & CEO

After a little more than two years of service with the Heart of Florida United Way, John Hawkins, President & CEO has tendered his resignation. Hawkins has been a United Way professional for over twenty-three years, working in communities of various sizes. Prior to coming to Orlando, John served as President & CEO of the United Way of Madison County in Huntsville, Alabama.

In the interim, all senior staff will report directly to Ed Timberlake, United Way Board Chair and President, Central Florida Bank of America. Timberlake informed staff today, that he will head up a committee, charged with conducting a nation-wide search throughout the United Way system, as well as, within our local community.

Timberlake made it clear that this search will not be limited to the United Way community, but will be expanded to include strong leaders in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. The search committee, made up of United Way Board Members and Mark Brewer, President & CEO of the Community Health Foundation, will be looking for an exceptional leader who can take the organization to the next level.

“This is a very critical time for this organization, and the goal will be minimal disruption.” Timberlake said. “We wish John the very best,”
