Dana Lewis stepped out on faith when she decided to leave her
job at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida and enroll at Jones Business
College in Jacksonville. There, she earned a degree in computer
information systems. Although she had been at Blue Cross Blue
Shield for 11 years, she was not afraid to make the move. As a
result, she now owns Creative Web Designs PLUS+ (CWDPlus) where
she hosts, designs, maintains and promotes web sites for individuals
and businesses. The company was founded in 1998 and has now grown
from a one-girl office to one that utilizes employees and subcontractors.
As the mother of three children: Ronald, Jr. (14); Marcus (12);
and Jasmine (8), Dana has learned that the support she gets from
the children and her husband, Ronald, allows her to enjoy her
life long ambition. She said, “He (Ronald, Sr.) is my biggest
supporter. He believes that I can do whatever I put my mind to…”
Dana’s oldest son is somewhat following in her footsteps––having
developed an interest in learning computer drafting. Marcus wants
to be a businessman and Jasmine looks forward to teaching school.
While at Jones College, Dana was asked to design and program web
sites for companies including some work for the City of Jacksonville.
She is currently seeking a second degree in business-marketing
and says, “I am helping others grow their businesses while
doing what I enjoy and making money at the same time.”
