I was in eighth grade when I got my very first relaxer. Now I'm in tenth and it seems like ever since I got that relaxer, my hair has gotten much shorter. Before I got the relaxer, I had no problems with hair growth. Is it the relaxer that has stunted my hair growth?

Relaxers do not stunt hair growth they destroy the hair so it breaks easily along the hair shaft if you do not constantly improve the hair with good products and exercise good hair techniques.
………………………….

I love swimming. Is it true that chlorine will strip my relaxer out?

Chlorine does not strip the relaxer. Nothing strips a relaxer because a relaxer chemical permanently changes the hair structure. It is my understanding that chlorine chemicals are attracted to the hair like a magnet. It causes the hair to dry out and become brittle if it is not removed from the hair regularly.
………………………….

I have a relaxer in my hair and I thought that it may be the cause of my hair thinning around the edges.  Are you saying that the thinning effects of a relaxer will eventually have the same effect on all of my hair? And if so, how come it is only happening on the edges (not that I actually want it to start elsewhere)? Are you ultimately saying that relaxers are overall a bad idea?

Yes relaxers are the cause of the majority of black women balding and thinning hair problems. And it does not only occur around the face, it can occur any where on the head. The logical reason it happens right around the face I believe, is because smoothing in the front is achieved by pushing the relaxer in areas that have very sparse hair. Hairdressers are trying to get the edges and temple areas very smooth. So hands and combs are used to push the product very close to the scalp. In fact, directly into the scalp pores where the hair around the face is generally a lot less than other areas on the head. Balding and thinning can occur anywhere the relaxer touches the scalp. Are relaxers bad? Not if they are applied correctly and the hair is properly maintained after their use. One relaxer can make you bald if it gets on the scalp.
……………………………

I just started using your products to help correct my damaged hair.  Why does the Lotion Creme Moisturizer bottle state that "for best results keep it off the scalp"?

Black women have traditionally been taught to oil their scalp. This note is put on the bottle to prevent them from doing this very self-defeating behavior. It will not hurt you if it gets on your scalp. It is that we just don't want people using the product like grease.
